The following information pertains to policies and procedures of Florida International University’s (FIU) Global Forensic and Justice Center (GFJC) that affect your registration to one of our events. It is your responsibility to be familiar with these policies and procedures, and, unless otherwise specified, this policy applies to all events, paid or free, offered by GFJC.
Registration
Attendees must be at least 18 years of age to attend GFJC events, unless specifically outlined for minors. GFJC, where applicable, provides technology and/or event related services in accordance with all applicable laws within the United States and in other jurisdictions where it conducts business. As such, GFJC may prohibit an individual from a restricted country or territory from GFJC registration. All decisions are in GFJC’s sole discretion and shall be considered final.
Payment
Prepayment is a requirement for event admission. Payment is due upon registration. For group registrations, please email forensics@fiu.edu to be issued an invoice and further instructions.
Discounts
Only ONE (1) discount may be applied to each registration pass. Discounts cannot be combined for any event or ticket type. Please contact forensics@fiu.edu with any questions or issues regarding discounts.
Cancellations by the Global Forensic and Justice Center
GJFC reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any event with insufficient enrollment or for reasons beyond FIU’s control. If an event is cancelled, the attendee will be given a full refund from the original form of purchase.
If an event is cancelled, GJFC’s liability is limited to a full refund of the event fee already paid. GFJC is not responsible for travel or related costs under any circumstances. Attendees may want to consider purchasing trip cancellation insurance in the unlikely event that an event is cancelled or they cannot attend for personal or professional reasons.
Cancellation of a GFJC event by attendee
The following guidelines apply to all written requests for cancellation by the attendee for the GFJC events. The request to cancel or transfer your registration for any program must be received by GFJC in writing to forensics@fiu.edu.
- Cancellation before 30 days from event start date: Full refund of registration fee (less a one-time $25 administration fee)
- Cancellation between 30–20 days from event start date: 50% refund of registration fee
- Changing from a ticket access, when applicable before 30 days: Full refund of the difference in ticket price
- Cancellation or change after 20 days from event start date: There are no refunds. If you have extenuating circumstances, please reach out with an email to: forensics@fiu.edu and requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

If payment for a program was made with a credit card, the refund will occur 10 business days after the written request to cancel registration has been approved by GFJC, or 10 business days after the initial credit card transaction has cleared, whichever is later. Once a request to cancel is submitted, you will receive notification of receipt of the request and approval, or decline, of that request.
Attendee Substitution
Requests for attendee substitutions must be made in writing by the original registrant to forensics@fiu.edu. Please note:
- The substituted individual must be from the same organization as the original registrant.
- A maximum of one (1) substitution per original registrant is allowed.
- There will be a $25 processing fee for any substitution.
Photography and Recording Permissions
By completing the registration, I, the event attendee, on my own behalf and for those who claim under, through, or for, me, hereby grant absolute right and permission to Florida International University to take photographs, slides, video, film footage, motion pictures, CDs, DVDs and/or audio reproductions of the person(s) named in this application.
For value received, which is hereby acknowledged, I hereby release Florida International University, the Florida International University Board of Trustees, the Florida Board of Governors, the State of Florida, their officers, employees, agents, successors and assigns from any suit, claim or demand; and agree to indemnify and hold each of them harmless from all loss, damages, claims and demands growing out of the enforcement or attempted enforcement of any suit, claim or action arising out of, or occasioned by the use of such audio/visuals.
In granting such permission, I hereby relinquish any right, title or interest in such photographs, slides, video, film footage, motion pictures CDs, DVDs, and/or audio reproductions and grant Florida International University permission to publish, exhibit or use such audio/visuals for any and all purposes.
